Stink

Stink is unpleasant smell. And such unpleasant smell is usually accompanied with special negative emotional characteristics. The antonym of this word is aroma.

Stink is usually caused by the negative associations (spoiled food, asexuality, danger, etc) and by the certain physical reaction – the stop of breathing, rare and not deep breathing in the zone of unpleasant smell.

In dependence on the situation, the level of irritation of the nervous system, individual sociological culture the perception of the smell may change a lot. Children have emotional reaction to unpleasant smells but the number of smells they know is poor. And during their life the number of smells distinguished rises and then decreases again.

The experience of the person influences people's preferences in smells. And some aromas may stink when their concentration is too high. The same smells may cause different reactions in dependence on the situation. But there are also people who have severe negative attitude to certain smells such as the smell of tobacco or perfumes.

Negative smells usually appear as the result of many processes such as human activity, decomposition, as well as in industry especially the chemical one.

Gases, perspiration, tobacco, alcohol, the mouth, dust, canalization are usually considered to have negative unpleasant smells.
